Russian Academic Mobility

What is Russian Academic Mobility?

Russian academic mobility refers to studies at another Russian academic institution, under any mode of study.

As per the decision of a faculty’s academic council or a body acting in its place (hereinafter, ‘academic council’), students may be recommended a list of courses, implemented in Russian academic institutions, or classes, conducted by research institutes, as well as seminars, held at Russian institutions.

A recommended list shall be available for viewing on each HSE University faculty’s website.

You are entitled to pursue courses from the recommended list, which may be subsequently transferred as relevant to your home degree programme.

Note: All expenses, associated with a student's participation in the Russian academic mobility, shall be paid by a student independently.

Student participants in short-term Russian academic mobility may include a single course or several courses, on the basis of a respective application:

  • in his/her curriculum (e.g., an optional course) for an ongoing and/or future period of study; and/or transfer credits and earned grades;
  • in the list of courses on his/her diploma supplement; and/or transfer the courses/courses as an optional course(s) beyond the prescribed credit value in the core curriculum for a given field of study with an option for factoring these courses into a cumulative rating for the ongoing and/or future periods.

If a certificate does not explicitly indicate points on a 10-point scale, the home faculty’s evaluation committee/home programme’s supervisor shall convert the grades from the certificate into grades used at HSE University. In the instance of an ungraded test, the student will retain his/her ‘pass’ grade, which is not factored into the rating.

Note

The home faculty's evaluation committee/home programme's supervisor may decide to refuse to transfer credits, which have been awarded to a student during his/her short-term Russian academic mobility, with the reason for the refusal indicated.
