You can choose from the varied menu. It’s also good for an evening meal as they serve hot food at any time of day. The USSR may be a thing of the past but Russians have not given up the delicacies of the former republics’ cuisine. Our neighbours food was too good for that! Muscovites are very fond of their Georgian, Armenian, Ukrainian, and Uzbek restaurants. For some people it’s nostalgic, while others just love eating well. There are two places to go near the HSE to enjoy the variety and they are under one roof. Odessa Mama and Khachapuri. In ‘Odessa’ you will be submerged in the atmosphere of the Jewish quarters of any large town in Russia. The traditional Jewish home-style dishes on the menu are sign-posted, but you can order fearlessly because it is all delicious. Khachapuri offers the cuisine of the Georgian part of the USSR. Home-made Tarkhun, varieties of Khachapuri, roast Suluguni, Lobio, in other words – all sunny Georgia’s famous dishes. Khachapuri has an interesting management structure. The art director is a ram called Tolik. No, we are not saying the art-director is stubborn; we are just giving you the facts. Tolik comes to the restaurant at the weekends for children’s parties. Visitors who like the food are allowed as a gesture of thanks to stroke the art director on his curly fleece. If you want to eat at Khachapuri in the evening it is advisable to book a table.
