Bachelor’s Programme 'History'

This programme offers an integrative approach to the study of history, including analysis not only of historical facts and processes, but also of human experiences and cultural transformation. It combines traditional historical disciplines with new comparative, interdisciplinary, and practical courses,including the study of the auxiliary sciences of history, as well as ancient and modern languages. By exploring the lives of individuals, communities, and nations in the past, students gain an understanding of historical processes and learn how societies function throughout history and in the present. They will also have a chance to sharpen their analytical skills, learn to pose questions and search for answers. The programme also aims to produce specialists with broad training in the humanities who are capable of furthering their education through Master’s and PhD programmes, or pursuingsuccessful careers in a wide range of non-academic fields.

Green HSE Organizes ReClothing Campaign

Student organization Green HSE organizes collection of clothing for recycling and charity. There are special boxes in different HSE buildings, where you can put the clothes you don’t need any more in order to give them a second life.  The campaign will run till December 13.

Smart People Go to Therapy (Because they are Vulnerable)

On December 9-10, the HSE Centre for Psychological Counselling is joining with the HSE Centre of Leadership and Volunteering to organize a psychology weekend where experienced psychologists will speak about how to talk to employers, effective communication, and time management. On the first day of the weekend, a workshop on studying and working in a multicultural environment will be held in English, which will give international students the ability to participate as well.

If you are an HSE student and interested in transferring to another programme (or HSE regional campus), December is one of the two best months of the year to do that.

HSE Moves up 10 Positions in QEECA Ranking

On its 25th anniversary, the Higher School of Economics (HSE) took 25th place in the QS EECA (Emerging Europe & Central Asia) Ranking, thus improving its result by 10 positions as compared with last year. This ranking includes 300 positions and takes into account higher education institutions in transitional European and Central Asian countries. 

Registration Opens for Optional Courses Starting in Second Half of 2016/17 Academic Year

From December 1 to 20, registration will be held for HSE’s Open Optional Courses, slated to start in the second half of the 2016/2017 academic year. Per tradition, these courses will be free of charge and open not only to HSE students, but also anybody interested in expanding their knowledge.

International Students Can Now Apply to HSE through a Simplified Procedure

HSE’s Admission Rules for the 2017/2018 academic year have undergone some changes in regards to international admission. The admission track is now unified for students from both CIS and non-CIS countries. Thus, only two exams must be passed in order to be accepted into a given undergraduate programme, while competitions for Master’s programmes only require a portfolio and an interview. The rules for International Olympiad Competitions have also been changed. Registration for these competitions ends on October 18 (for some countries, deadlines may be extended).

Register to Participate in International Olympiad Competitions

There’s still time to register to take part in the 2016 HSE International Olympiad Competitions. In order to participate, you must register online by November 27, 2016.
