Bachelor’s Programme 'Indian Languages and Literature'

This programme provides training in Asian Studies and the history and philology of India. Students work with original texts and study and translate Vedic poetry, epic tales and Buddhist sutras. The programme also provides fundamental courses in Sanskrit as both an ancient and Middle Age language of Indian literature, in Pail- language of the Buddhist canon, and in Hindi- the language of modern India. The curriculum covers literature, history, religion, philosophy and art in both ancient and Middle Age India and students engage in the history of Indo-Aryan languages using original texts dating from ancient times to the modern day.

The talk attempts to provide some principles, ideas, and alternatives that can help us in our quest for more excellent substance and also help address the pressing social and ecological challenges of our times. Dr Shobhana Radhakrishna spoke about the life of one of the extraordinary individuals, Mahatma Gandhi, and his lessons of personal growth and transformation. The event was organized jointly with the Embassy of India in Moscow.
