Course Syllabus

Abstract

"Japanese Culture of Everyday Life and Customs" provides a wide range of basic knoledge on objects of everyday life, customs and habbits of the Japanese people throughout different historical periods. It includes lectures on material culture of Japan, types of housing, living conditions, food, clothing, toys and other objects. Special attention is paid to the meaning of consumption in general for the Japanese people.
