Abstract
Investment funds and asset managers worldwide search for innovative products that increase profitability but also create environmental and social value. This course studies finance and sustainability as integrated subjects beginning with an introduction of financial and investment principles and moving through financial analysis, financing, and valuation. The course covers diverse aspects of sustainable financial instruments, including green and social loans, KPI- and rating-based sustainability-linked loans, and green and social bonds. The course builds upon best international standards such as UNEP FI, LMA and ICMA, as well as Russian national taxonomy of green and social projects eligible for sustainable financing. It also looks at sustainable investment practices and tools from negative screening to active ownership. The importance of non-financial information disclosure is also highlighted in this course.
