Abstract
This discipline is designed for postgraduate students in the Foreign Languages program, specialising in Germanic languages.The course integrates two parts. The first part is aimed at an in-depth study of the features specific of Germanic languages as part of the Indo-European language family. It focuses on the main stages of their development and distinctive features. The second part is practical and teaches students advanced text analysis skills. Text is a unit of speech. its abstract, non-specific expression, it is a simulated language unit, which can be represented as a nominative unit through a semantic triangle, where text will be detonate, topical macro-proposition - significate, and an event reflected in this text, - referent. The feature of the text of the fiction is his fictional character. It is created according to certain aesthetic laws and is endowed with an emotive function of influence, and the world depicted in it correlates with reality indirectly, refracted through the individual-copyright of his perception, transforming in accordance with the author's intention, i.e. conceptualizing.
