Development of a Software Platform for Planning, Streaming, Recording, Automated Processing, and Storage of Educational Video

Student: Vladimir Antonov

Supervisor: Denis Korolev

Faculty: HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM)

Educational Programme: Information Science and Computation Technology (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 9

Year of Graduation: 2025

As part of the work, a video platform was developed for storing, viewing, and streaming educational video content. The primary audience includes instructors who want to independently publish and manage access to their lectures without the need for technical support, as well as students who prefer having all learning materials available in one place. Users interact with the platform through a web interface accessible from both desktop and mobile devices. Future plans include extending the platform’s functionality with interactive features (such as live chat and comments) and integrating artificial intelligence technologies to analyze video content. The developed software solution includes the following components: 1. Data storage – a system based on Opencast that automates video processing, including silence trimming and lecture summary generation. 2. Streaming module – a distributed system that ensures reliable live session delivery and schedule management. 3. Recording software – an integrated agent responsible for recording streams, equipped with failover protection mechanisms. 4. Web interface – a user-friendly website that provides features for searching, viewing, uploading, organizing videos by playlists, and planning and conducting broadcasts. The graduation thesis consists of 111 pages, including 56 references, 47 pictures, 5 tables and 2 appendices.
