The Major Trends on the European Oil Products Market and Opportunities for New Exporters

The aim of this work - to reflect and justify the major trends that exist in the European refinerysector, and to identify the opportunities of Persian gulf countries to strengthen their market positions. The objectives of this work are the following: 1. Characterize the modern development of the European refining and key trends of petroleum products consumption in Europe 2 . Analyze trends of downstream sector development in the Persian Gulf countries and assess the prospects for strengthening them in the supply of petroleum products in EuropeThe Following results were obtained : European refineries have experienced a systemic crisis and its role in the global downstream sector decreases. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE strengthens their positions . The Gulf countries intend to actively expand exports of petroleum products in the European direction .Recommendation of this paper –Russian oil companies in order to develop effective export policy have to study in detail the trends which exists in the refinery sectorsof the EU and the Gulf countries.
