Resistance to organizational change is said to be an important problem for contemporary commercial organizations. Earlier, organizational changes were considered as a last-ditch method for solving the problems on the way of company’s development, but now the function of company’s change is supposed to become one of the most important functions of any firm’s management. In addition to this, implementing changes and dealing with the resistance to organizational change, management scientists mentioned as a part of HR-management responsibility, but the contemporary conditions and the speed of the market change make companies share some of the responsibility with line functions – here we can mention recruitment, training, evaluation and the function of change agent. The role and the responsibility of the line manager changed, as well as the volume of work that he is responsible for. Moreover, the business spheres transform, new ones appear and traditional ones fluctuate. Every business sphere on the contemporary market has its own peculiarities and principles of functioning that cause a particular extent of resistance to organizational change. It leads to the conclusion, that it becomes possible to determine special aspects of the resistance to organizational change in a particular business sphere that are essential to take into account when working out the strategy of dealing with the resistance. Questionnaire survey among line managers of different companies has an aim to find out the extent of the resistance on three different levels: individual, group and organizational one. With the help of the statistical processing it is possible to define the extent of the resistance to change in the particular business sphere. After the analyses of the results, making the recommendations for the particular business sphere for overcoming the resistance to change may help commercial organizations of Nizhniy Novgorod to work effectively with difficulties, which appear during the transformation period and during the research of the most effective way to reach company’s goal.
