Research of successful project portfolio structuring factors

<p style="text-align: justify;">Abstract of thesis &ldquo;Research of successful project portfolio structuring factors&rdquo; by Alexandra Latypova</p><p style="text-align: justify;">The aim of this research is to define and analyze prerequisites of successful project portfolio structuring, as well as portfolio success, such as: integration of stakeholders, formalization of project portfolio processes and high level of strategic planning. The main objectives include: 1. Detection of successful project portfolio structuring factors; 2. Proof of the hypothesis concerning interdependence of such factors as competitors&rsquo; performance monitoring and portfolio success; 3. Development of practical recommendations to improve Russian company&rsquo;s performance in the sphere of portfolio management. Methodology of research includes content-analysis of Russian and foreign articles, regression analysis, which enables to reveal correlation between such factors, as competitors&rsquo; performance monitoring, integration of this information in decision-making process and portfolio success. The main instrument of information collection is questionnaire. The objective of this research stage was to get evaluations of influence of competitors monitoring on portfolio success. This method was selected due to possibility to circulate survey to project managers working in different spheres and countries (through social media &ndash; Linkedin &ndash; network, devoted to search and establishment of professional contacts and investigation of different spheres). Key research results are the following: &bull; Key factors of successful project portfolio structuring and portfolio success are revealed and analyzed: project management processes formalization, integration of stakeholders in decision-making process and interrelation between strategic planning and portfolio management. &bull; Influence of competitors&rsquo; performance monitoring on portfolio success (average project success, portfolio balance, strategy alignment) is analyzed and estimated. &bull; List of practical recommendations to improve performance of Russian FMCG-company in the sphere of portfolio management is developed.</p>
