Democratic movement can be viewed as a specific mechanism of democratization and as a method of increasing civil participation in political process in Perm region. &nbsp;In this regard, the goal of the research was to identify the role played by the democratic movement in the political process of Perm region and understand the political potential of the democratic movement.</p><p>The research object was the democratic organizations in Perm region as organized forms of civil activity. &nbsp;Several research objectives were formulated in order to reach the goal of the research:</p><p style="margin-left:71.4pt;">&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;to identify the sources of democratic organizations in Perm region and its configuration;</p><p style="margin-left:71.4pt;">&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; to describe specific features of democratic organization&rsquo;s functioning in Perm region: the role of leaders in organizations, the nature of the internal relationships (based on status hierarchy) between the members of the organization, building networks between organizations within the democratic movement;</p><p style="margin-left:71.4pt;">&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; to describe the motivation of participation in democratic movement activities;</p><p style="margin-left:71.4pt;">&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; to identify the main attributes of political system that contribute to effective operation of the democratic movement in Perm region;</p><p style="margin-left:71.4pt;">&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; to identify the range of resources and possibilities of increasing the role of civil participation in local policy &nbsp;that are applied by democratic movement in Perm region;</p><p style="margin-left:71.4pt;">&middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; to describe the main forms and character of the relationships between regional elites and civil segment.</p><p>The empirical part of the research is based on the ten semi-structured interviews with participants and leaders of public organizations and four interviews with experts &ndash; researchers of democratic movement in Perm region that were conducted in January - March 2014. The involved observation of inner organization processes was used as an additional method in the research.</p><p>According to the results of empirical research it became possible to identify the resources base, organizational characteristics and features of the democratic movement in Perm region.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
