Health Monitoring System for People with Insulin-Dependent Diabetes

<div>This paper considers the development of a software system that would enhance the quality of lives of patients who suffer from insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus by providing functionality for managing their condition more effectively on a daily basis. First, the topicality of the research is described and an overview of the existing software solutions, with their advantages and disadvantages, is provided. In the chapter &quot;The main theoretical results&quot; the modern methods of insulin therapy are described in detail, and method of required insulin dose calculation based on the user&#39;s individual records, which lies in the core of the functionality of a mobile application, is defined. The result of the development process is the mobile application that combines the functionality of a diary for self-control and an insulin dose calculator, as well as a web application for the medical professionals that provides remote access to electronic records in order to control the patients&#39; compliance with the treatment regimen and to monitor progress in the patients&#39; treatment process. Key features of the system development process are described in the chapter &quot;Software implementation&quot;. In conclusion, the results achieved are described and possible ways of future development of the created system are discussed.</div><div><strong>Keywords</strong>: diabetes mellitus, insulin therapy, insulin dose calculator, bread unit, mobile application, iOS7, REST API.</div>
