Relationship between individual values and bicultural identity

<div>Мodern world is characterized by an increasing level of urbanization. People are migrating in large multicultural cities. National minorities are faced with the challenges of integration in a multicultural society. Most commonly, migrants face the problem of a new identity formation. Most adaptive strategy in this case is the development of a bicultural identity. Sense of belonging to two cultural groups facilitates interaction with representatives of both the native and dominant cultures.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>However, there is a question: what personal qualities allow individuals to form a positive bicultural identity? The very nature of bicultural identity requires demonstration of opposing values ​​- openness to change and the ability to follow the rules and traditions.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>IIn our proposed study, we made an attempt&nbsp;to determine how values ​​are interrelated with a number of characteristics of a bicultural identity. There were differences in the characteristics of migrants bicultural identity between different generations, as well as specifics of the relationships of individual values ​​and characteristics bicultural identity characteristics&nbsp;among two generations of migrants, defined what values ​​fosters a positive bicultural identity, and which hinder. In general, the work gives a closer look at the phenomenon of bicultural identity on the part of individual values ​​and makes a valuable contribution to the development of theoretical ideas about the phenomenon of bicultural identity.</div>
