Project Execution Plan Web-Tool Development

<p>Nowadays, there are many international companies that manage big capital projects. Their future depends on the success of these projects. Thus, companies need a proper project management to achieve the desired result and there are a lot of different project management methodology based on best practices. One of the main principles is division of the project into phases. Almost every phase involves project execution plan (PEP) development.</p><p>. PEP Development Procedure is difficult for project teams. In addition, it takes a lot of time. As the result almost every company managing big capital projects should have the tool to develop PEP. Indeed, it is worth noticing that project team&rsquo;s members work around the world and use a corporate portal to collaborate.</p><p>The objective is to create a straightforward and user-friendly Web-Tool on the corporate portal to provide project teams the opportunity to draft their own quality PEP in line with best practices.</p><p>For the objective to be achieved the following aims were formulated:</p><p>First, to examine various sources of information about PEP development, including foreign literature and company&rsquo;s documentation. Second, to explore different corporate portal system, identify criteria and perform the comparison of these methods. Third, to choose the specific system. Forth, to write a technical task. Fifth, to develop Web-Tool according to the technical task. Sixth, to test Web-Tool.</p><p>In this paper, the business process &ldquo;Project Execution Plan Development&rdquo; was considered. After that model &ldquo;AS-IS&rdquo; was constructed. Then, tools to develop web-tool were analyzed.</p><p>Model &ldquo;TO-BE&rdquo; was constructed and requirements for the database and the system architecture were defined as part of the design.</p><p>Moreover, in this work custom solutions were described. They are the most important part of the Web-Tool because thanks of them we can achieve a good level of interaction with process.</p><p>The result of the work is the real program product (Web-Tool) on company&rsquo;s portal that helps project teams to develop PEP. This work is particularly important to organizations with big capital projects in portfolio.</p>
