This topic is very vital as nowadays this process of migration affects practically all spheres of social and economic life, moreover, because of the burning political, economic and social problems millions of people became the compelled migrants. That is why Russia has faced the intensive flow of migrants which rushed on its territory.

The aim of the project is to study to estimate influence of external migration on social and economic development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and to find ways of this regulation.

According to the designated purpose I set the following tasks:

- to consider the main types of population shift between various settlements, to reveal interrelation and to define the main functions of migratory processes;

- to reveal measures for regulation of migratory streams in the region;

- to estimate the influence of migration on social and economic development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region;

- to allocate the main directions in regulation of migratory streams, based on the analysis of the Concept of migration policy of the Russian Federation and the Nizhny Novgorod Region till 2025.

This work represents a research of migratory processes which proceed in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. It is a well known fact that flows of migrants are characterized by a number of labor migrants from the CIS countries. On stream intensity the first place in the region is taken by labor immigration where males at working-age prevail.

However, the migratory situation in the Nizhny Novgorod Region remains stable and no migratory pressure or negative influences on the international and interfaith relations in the region have been noticed.

Besides, the measures for a migratory streams regulation in the region were considered to reduce the level of illegal migration, to solve demographic problems and to promote the solution of such problems as migrants’ adaptation and integration, harmonization of international relations and an exception of conflicts.

I am absolutely sure that an achievement of necessary social and economic effect is only possible in a close interaction between federal public authorities, public authorities of the Russian Federation, local governments and institutes of civil society in the sphere of migration.

So taking everything into account, I hope that my project will be very fruitful and the authorities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region will take some vital methods to struggle against illegal migrants in this territory.
