This paper discusses the problem of intellectual immigration in the US and how it affects the country’s economy and international position. The main argument of the paper is that intellectual immigration is one of the principal factors contributing to the international leadership of the US. Despite this fact, it is argued that there are certain limitations to this contribution, namely, the inefficient immigration policy of the US, as well as other countries’ growing attractiveness for high-skilled workers and students. Immigration systems of the US and of some competing countries are analyzed, and certain recommendations are drawn up as to what kind of reforms are needed to improve the immigration policies of the US.
