The Typology of Strategies of Adaptation by Female Migrants from Armenia

In the paper «The Typology of Strategies of Adaptation by Female Migrants from Armenia» the author analysed the situation of migrant women in the Russian labour market and examined current issues with labour migration of women. The author studied a specific and narrow segment of women from Armenia aged 25-40 who has been living in Russia for last 3-6 years. The study analysed the areas of preferential employment and the specifics of employment. The author demonstrated that migrant women from Armenia, mainly with higher and/or vocational education, occupy a specific segment of the Russian labour market - the service sector. The lack of necessary document and other factors prevent their professional growth and on the contrary, lead to lower social and professional status. According to the results of the conducted empirical study the author depicted the typology of the adaptation strategies of migrant women from Armenia as a particular social group.
