Modelling Inbound Tourism in Russian Federation

The work is concerned with the complex statistical research of inbound tourism market in the Russian Federation. For example, here is used data as the volume of paid tourism services, the number of objects of cultural and historical heritage, collective accommodation facilities and flow of incoming foreign tourists. The first chapter deals with the theoretical foundations of tourism in Russia, overlooking of previously made researches in this area, as well as provides an overview of current trends and features of the tourism market in Russia on the basis of official statistics. The second chapter provides the analysis of the volume of paid tourism services dynamics in Russia, carried out with the help of various time series models. On the basis of the optimal model that best describes the dynamics of the volume of paid tourist services, it was produced short-term forecast. The third chapter presents the results of structural modeling of inbound tourism market in Russia, as well as the classification of regions of Russia in the aspect of tourism attraction for foreigners. Structural modeling was performed both in the regional context, and in the federal districts of Russia to identify differences in the importance of factors that determine the amounts paid tourism services. In the final part of the paper the present study sums up, confirming that tourism plays an important role in the Russian economy as a source of cash income. In the paper it is founded that the volume of provided services to tourists is a central indicator of the tourism industry, as it is the main subject of the exchange, thanks to which the country receives cash inflows, while tourist gets satisfaction of his wants. This part also contains ideas on the further development of research in the field of inbound tourism in Russia.
