As a result of interaction between culture and technology, nowadays we have new cultural forms and one of such form is a virtual museum. This work is aimed to identify theoretical basis of the virtual museum features as a qualitatively new form of organization of the exhibition space in a comparison with the actual museum. The paper describes how the virtual museum, becoming a relevant cultural phenomenon, transforms the usual approach to the organization of the exhibition space in the traditional type of museum, as well as it shapes the general features of exhibiting and integral perception of museum information. As an example, we propose to consider the organization of “Google Art Project” exhibition space.
