This paper uses main principles of critical discourse analysis to study influence exerted by the US on the energy security policy of the European Union in the period of the second presidential term of Barak Obama (2013-2016). The author comes to a conclusion that despite common perception the American influence on the European energy policy is limited and can be registered only at times when energy issues are seciritizied.
