Media Art as Direction of Development of Visual and Social Practices of the Modern Museum

The new media art, which has arisen in the middle of the 20th century, changed traditional principles of modern art culture. In particular, within media art there was a change of traditional roles of the artist, spectator and the art work. It caused new demands to the presentation of the art works in the museum and exhibition environment. Main aim of this research is the analysis of changes in visual and social practices of the modern museum occurred due to the influence of new media art. This work describes how the spectator, the artist and a work of art function in space of the modern art museum. Also work contains research of how the space of the museum visually changes when exhibiting objects of media art.
