This paper examines the interconnection between the Soviet images representation in present-day Russian media (in the case of "Old Songs about the Most Important" TV project, 1995-97) and producing post-Soviet nostalgia among its audience. The research includes analysis of nostalgia phenomenon in both historical and theoretical contexts. In addition, it studies the key characteristics of the abovementioned TV project in the context of nostalgia definition, as well as its perception by the audience and professional community. As the result of the research, a conclusion is made: the concerned TV project does involve 'reflexive' nostalgia (Svetlana Boym classification) but doesn't contain 'reconstructive' nostalgia which is considered responsible for post-Empire social and political psycological trauma and is allegedly represented by that TV project.
