The War for Lazika in the Context of Bizantine History of the mid-6th Century

Most of the wars that were waged by Byzantium in the sixth century took place in the era of Emperor Justinian. One of the most dangerous opponents of the empire was Sassanid Persia. The main area of the eastern campaigns against the Persians in the VI century located in the Laz kingdom. This study describes the importance of the war in Lazica for Byzantine history. Analysis will focus on the description of the war in Lazika in the policy of Justinian. This study is based on the following steps: the reconstruction of the war and detailed examination of related sources; typological comparison of the war in Lazika in the context of Byzantine wars of the sixth century; the evaluation of the Laz war for Byzantium history in the sixth century.
