Transformations of the Institution of Elections of the Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania

After the collapse of the Soviet Union the relations between the Federal center and the regions demanded a settlement. As there was no single law regulating an order of formation of regional authorities, each subject, and developed according to their regional legislation. Republic for twenty-five years have been changing various models of formation of the government, therefore, changed and the mechanisms of elections of the higher officials of subjects. Regional authorities of the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania as well chose different models of formation of local authorities. The aim of this study is to find causes and consequences of these transformations
