The Effectiveness of Structural Approach for Families with First Pregnancy

The research is evaluating the effectiveness of structural family therapy for families with first pregnancy. 101 pregnant women were examined for observing interrelation between the characteristics of the family system and attitude to pregnancy. Significant differences were found between groups with different types of attitude to pregnancy for characteristics of border and cohesion of the family system. Psychotherapy in systemic structural approach for 5 families with non-optimal attitude to pregnancy showed the effectiveness of the impact by changing the type of the psychological component of gestational dominance of women before and after therapy. Depressive component was absent in all the cases, and optimal component was increased an average of 29 percentage points, and two of five cases reached the optimal type of the psychological component of gestational dominance . The paper describes the most successful case and also the model of group training for couples with first pregnancy.
