Sports industry in the Russian Federation has a great potential for development. It is connected with the organization of the major sporting events in Russia. This situation is a great opportunity for investors who can invest their own funds in the implementation of sports facilities. Nevertheless the success of investment projects will depend on the correct preparation of the development strategy for the project. The strategy should consider the features of the sports industry and the Russian investment climate. Thus, the objective of this study is the development of the investment strategy for the project of the construction of a sports stadium in Nizhny Novgorod. Individual interviews with the leaders of this project will be used to collect information about the specifics of working in this sphere. In addition, on the basis of research it is possible to estimate applicability of strategy of development of investment projects in the conditions of the Russian economy.
