In this study, we estimate the effect of four groups of values taken from Schwartz’s theory of basic human values on acculturation attitudes toward migrants in Moscow. Attitudes of host population toward migrants are operationalized using Berry’s Bidimensional Acculturation Model. The influence of groups of values on acculturation attitudes of host population was assessed. In additional to groups of values we examined effect of a migrant’s social-demographic portrait on formation acculturation attitudes of host population. We hypothesize that different groups of values have positive and negative effect on acculturation attitudes according to their motivational nature. For confirmation this idea we conducted correlation analysis and Path modeling for data analysis. The results shown follow stable relations between values and acculturation attitudes: Self-Transcendence values positively affect the preference Integration; Self-Transcendence values negatively affect the preference Segregation, Assimilation; Conservation values positively affect the preference Segregation; Self-Enhancement values positively affect the preference Segregation, Assimilation. Possible explanations for effect size differences were discussed end explained by existing theories in this field.
