Reduction of Moscow University's Students to Discipline in the Early 20th Century: Origins, Institutionalization, Practice

The work is dedicated to the reconstruction of the governmental policy of discipline towards Moscow Imperial university students. Chronological framework of the work is the middle 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries. Relationship between the authorities and the students were also analyzed from the point of view of policy of discipline. During the analysis it has become apparent that governmental policy towards Moscow Imperial university students might be regarded as policy of discipline. In the work a significant attention was payed to the history of the Professorial Discipline Court, reconstruction of its activity and its analysis as an element of policy of discipline. Usage and analysis of found archival materials made possible a reconstruction of the Professorial Discipline Court activity and demonstrated its role in the discipline process towards Moscow Imperial university students
