Constructing Narrative in Soviet Museums: Architecture and Display (on the Example of the Central Museum of Vladimir Lenin)

The research examines the phenomenon of narrative in Soviet museums on the example of the Central Museum of Vladimir Lenin. For that purpose the analysis of unpublished archival documents, scientific works of domestic and foreign researchers and specialists in the field of museology and narratology was conducted. The subject is the narrative as a discursive mechanism of political culture in Soviet society and in the public space of the Museum. The scope of the research is the displays of the Central Museum of Lenin. It is considered from the perspective of narratology and in the context of Leninist mythology. In the study the soviet museums displays on the example of the Central Museum of V. I. Lenin are considered for the first time as a narrative construct that existed in the context of cultural-political discourse of the Soviet state. The research contains general conclusions related to the fact that the establishment of the Central Museum of Vladimir Lenin was a logical conclusion of Leniniana as an ideological mechanism of affecting the consciousness of the Soviet society. The displays of the Central Museum of Vladimir Lenin were a key part of the narrative in the political discourse of Soviet society.
