The research investigates methodological difficulties, occurring in the process of interpretation of “The Phenomenology of Spirit”. Hegel’s text is considered from two sides. At first, the system of Hegel’s philosophy is interpreted as an answer to the previous transcendental tradition, and it’s shown, how Hegel inherits the philosophical legacy of Fichte and Schelling. On the other hand, the substantial chasm between Hegel and his antecessors can already be found on the pages of “Differenz des Fichteschen und Schellingschen System”. The core of the chasm is the idea of the substantive ideal reality and impossibility of deducing the system from logical grounds. Thus Hegel invents a completely innovative form for narrating his system, which is “Phenomenology of Spirit”. For the needs of interpreting ‘Phenomenology of Spirit”, the idea of “transformative methodology” is proposed. Within bounds of that methodology, Hegel’s Phenomenology is considered as a project of a special “Philosophical dictionary”. Research shows, that this methodology can be useful in many cases, considering “Phenomenology”, for example, in understanding, how Hegel grounds his system and what is the status of the Kojeve’s interpretation of Hegel’s Philosophy.
