Strategic Planning of Socio-Economic Development of Single-Industry Towns of Russia

Planning of socio-economic development of the municipality is one of the most important things in municipal management. Now in Russia there are the law "About strategic planning in the Russian Federation", has established a strategic planning framework, including the local level. However, strategic planning as a phenomenon existed before the adoption of this law. In this regard, it is important to analyze the accumulated experience in the strategic planning of single-industry towns in Russia, because it plays an important role in their development. The paper analyzed the experience of two Russian single-industry towns: Chernogorsk and Kameshkovo. Having examined the direct process of creating the strategic planning of these cities and the results of its implementation, the conclusions regarding these or other errors in the course of these processes. Based on these recommendations are made for improvement of the strategic planning process at the local level.
