Faculty: Faculty of Computer Science

Educational Programme: Software Engineering (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2016

This graduation paper is dedicated to comparative performance of in-memory database systems. In this work we examine the organization principle of in-memory database systems and also review current solutions for their performance analysis, the selection process of existing database systems and the selection of testing technique. The aim of the work is to develop a program for comparative performance analysis of in-memory databases. The performance testing technique is TPC-H benchmark from TPC (Transaction Processing Performance Council) organization. This technique allows to emulate a decision taking business-process for a company that relies on predefined metrics that are expressed as SQL-queries to a database. Using of in-memory databases allows to achieve a significant performance growth of process of working with database. The program that was developed during this work allows to interact with a predefined set of such databases and to perform comparative performance analysis. The paper contains 39 pages, 3 chapters, 19 illustrations, 9 schemes, 9 bibliography items, 4 appendices. Keywords: performance analysis, TPC-H, in-memory database.
