The study presented in the thesis work relates to the field of corpus linguistics. It was held on the base of the learner corpus REALEC, containing a large number of student essays written in English. One of the main tasks of the work is to provide the accuracy and correctness of the annotation, since different people may define the scope of the same error in different ways and to interpret the error in different ways itself. Thus, the process of verification of the annotated texts was carried out, in particular, special attention was paid to the discourse structures, as they cause the most frequent questions and doubts among annotators. The aim of this work was not only to check the annotated areas, but also to create an algorithm for the automatic annotation for some tags. The program was written for two most frequent tags in the corpus. The author hopes that the results will help to improve the quality and speed of annotation in REALEC corpus.
