This work is devoted to the study of the activities of the Comintern and Japan in Korea within the framework of the concept of the New Imperialism of Prasenjit Duara, which he set out in his book "Sovereignty and Authenticity. Manchukuo and East Asian Modern". According to his concept in the interwar period, imperialism and nationalism are forced to adapt to new political forms. Among these forms were those that were guided by the principles of emancipation, development and supranational brotherhood. These principles contradicted the old imperialism, but contained the potential for the development of new forms of domination, according to Duara. In this connection, in this paper an attempt is made to look at the policy of the Comintern in Korea from this angle and compare it with the Japanese one. The main thesis is that the political activities of the Soviet leadership were the basis for the activities of the Comintern, on the basis of which certain decisions were taken regarding Korea. In addition, a comparison is made between Japanese and Soviet political rhetoric.
