Russian and American Press Coverage of the Syrian Conflict: Assesment of Disagreements and Search for Solutions

The purpose of this research is to define the political interests of the main actors of the Syrian war and assess the possibility of the negotiated settlement to the conflict. To this end an analysis of the coverage of the conflict in national media is conducted as a way to determine the focal points of political agenda of the states in question. The data collected in the aforementioned way is later employed to predict the probability of an actual political agreement judging by the compatibility of the national interests of influential foreign powers actively intervening in the Syrian conflict.
