The Gender Perspective in Philosophy and Sociocultural Space in France in XVII-XVIII Centuries

The paper touches upon the period of XVII and XVIII centuries in French philosophy, culture and history in its gender aspect. This research is mainly focusing on the "woman question", which was broadly discussed by the thinkers of the age of Enlightenment while arguing about the issues of social hierarchy and the natural rights. The general purpose of this paper is to identify gender perspective in the philosophy and social thought in France in a given period, and to evaluate the actual female participation in political and cultural life of the society, which lay the foundation for the following liberation movement for the equal rights and freedoms for both sexes.
