Demographic Analysis of the Stability of Marriages in Russia

Sociological theories of marriage are systematized in the master's thesis. Factors of the stability of marriages are considered on the example of Russian marriages for three generations the indicators of the stability of marriage are analyzed depending on socio-demographic and biographical factors. Additionally, the analysis of the stability of Russian marriages for cohorts by the year of entry has been performed. The first chapter presents an overview of marriage theories and factors that affect the stability of marriage. A review of modern papers about the stability of marriage in Russia has been done. In the second chapter, the procedure for forming subsamples and variables used in the empirical part of the work is described. In the third chapter the interrelations between socio-demographic, biographical factors and the stability of Russian marriages of three generations of respondents are analyzed on the data from the first wave of the "Generations and Gender" (GGS-2004). The paper investigates the interrelation of factors and the stability of marriage for three generations of 1946 - 1955, 1956 - 1965, 1966 - 1975 years of birth.
