Online fundraising is one of the most actively growing areas of private philanthropy. The purpose of this paper is to identify factors that affect the adoption of online fundraising among Russian non-profit organizations and the usage of the three particular online tools: websites, e-mail messaging and social media. Descriptive analysis and binary logistic regression were used as research methods with the total sample size of 850 NPOs. Although there is a number of foreign publications on this topic, in Russia there has been no similar research, which provides the scientific novelty of the study. The results of the research provide several insights into the mechanisms for the adoption of the Internet in the Russian non-profit sector and can be useful for practitioners to identify opportunities and threats to the use of online fundraising in non-profit organizations.
