The inter-Korean relations still remain an actual and important subject for research. The active development of relations between South and North Korea began after the introduction of the "Northern Policy" in 1988 by President Roh Tae Woo. This policy’s purpose was to reduce tensions on the Korean peninsula and normalize relations between two countries. The aim of this research is to analyze the relations between South and North Korea from 1998 to 2016. To achieve this goal, content-analysis method was used in order to provide in depth research of monographs, scientific articles and other sources. The results of this work can confirm that the "Northern Policy" did not end with Roh Tae Woo presidency, moreover it was used as a basis by the following presidents up until 2008.
