The Modern Strategy of the Economic Development in Northeast China

This paper provides an extensive historical and geographical overview of the region of Northeast China and considers its unique role in the overall economic development of China. The author studies the reasons for this Chinese region's lagging behind the southern and central areas of the country in terms of key indicators and how it became an outsider from the flagship of economic growth. Special attention is paid to the actual policy of the central authorities of the PRC on the development of the region, which are laid down in the "Renaissance Plan of the Northeast", adopted by the State Council of the PRC in 2007. The author dwells in details on the current Russian-Chinese partnership and the role that Northeast China, which borders Russia, plays in bilateral economic relations. The work must be interesting to all who study the economy of the PRC regions, as well as relations between Moscow and Beijing at the present stage
