This paper is dedicated to the review of fuzzy analytical hierarchy process using fuzzy numbers with interval type-2 membership function (abbr. IT2MF). In this work, we present and analyze basic analytical hierarchy process, its modification using some of fuzzy logic models (type-1 fuzzy numbers and Z-numbers), and the base theory of fuzzy logic. For each of presented approaches its drawbacks are revealed and analyzed. The major common drawback of all methods relates to impossibility of taking into consideration the degree of confidence of an expert associated with his/her judgment. Based on this fact, the novel approach to fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) was proposed. This approach operates with fuzzy numbers represented by interval type-2 membership functions. The aim of the work was to develop a program allowing to use the proposed modification, which has no analogues from both theoretical and practical standpoints. This method allows to take into consideration the degree of confidence of expert’s estimate provided. The paper contains 37 pages, 3 chapters, 18 illustrations, 5 tables, 10 bibliography items (references) and 4 appendices. Keywords: fuzzy logic, analytical hierarchy process, pairwise comparison, interval type-2 fuzzy numbers, interval comparison.
