This visual study considers the word "idol" in all its meanings, tracks changes in the perseption of word, etymology. It recounts in details the difference between totems and idols, reflects the geographical differences, as well.The study also traces the transition from idol to sculpture, compares and finds the link between images of contemporary idols of mass culture and shamans.
