Russian Hitchhikers Personality Traits Specificity

The goal of the presented research is to identify special personality traits of Russian hitchhikers. Wide theoretical analysis was conducted to examine the key approaches to adventurous tourism and hitchhiking studies. Key theories were determined to clarify which method to choose for reaching the aim of the research. All of the measuring techniques sort with the examined approaches and were included to the survey that was suggested to examinees. Logical connections between methodology and all examined theories allowed to make a critical analysis to the theories discussed. Results showed hitchhikers’ higher level of emotional stability rather than classical recreational tourists have. Also, hitchhikers have lower level of death anxiety and intention to innovations, based firstly on tendency to risk for success. Thus, based on the research conducted, we may formulate the following recommendations: - Distinguish more factors determining being prone to hitchhiking - Conduct a qualitative analysis based on an interview for better understanding the hitchhikers’ motivation
