Despite the large number of researches papers about different aspects of charity, very few studies are presented in the context of international comparative analysis. International comparison is important, as it can show the dependence in the level of charitable giving depending on various macroeconomic factors. The purpose of this study is to understand which factors are influencing the level of charitable giving in different Western countries before and after debt crisis. The work analyzed statistical data representing various socio-economic factors in 28 countries and concluded to what extend they influence charitable giving in different periods of time. Understanding these factors helps to determine what needs to be done if we want to increase the level of charity.
