Sociological Reconstruction of the Flashmob 'I am not Afraid to Say': Narratives of Violence and Expert Opinion

This master’s thesis is dedicated to sociological reconstruction of “I’m not afraid to say” flashmob in its processual scenario including the narratives of violence and an expert commentary. The confrontation of discourses towards ideas, practices and opinions is the main issue of this paper. As a powerful mechanism of influence on society, the flashmob was intended to draw attention to the problem of violence and to change the attitude to this topic. With the help of contemporaneous communications media the action became the force that made society more sympathetic. The research allows to determine socio-cultural context of the flashmob, to draw out the public opinion. By means of the narratives analysis occurs the reconstruction of the main characteristics of the flashmob and the discourse analysis allows to classify the psychotherapists’ opinions. As a result, the general effect of the “I’m not afraid to say” flashmob is the appearance of publical self-description of violence and the topic in general is not prohibited anymore.
