Challenges of Contemporary Privatization Policy in Post-Soviet Countries in 2010s

Compared to the developed market economies in the post-soviet countries questions of ownership and the role of the state in economic processes were - and still are – much more important issues. Among big amount of various studies devoted to recent privatization trends there are only a few articles devoted to such kind of trends in post-soviet countries. Privatization processes can held in different spheres, depending on the object of the property being privatized. It can be, for example, the privatization of state-owned enterprises, housing stock, land, municipal property. Each of these particular spheres has its own specifics and particular instruments for privatization. That is why for the purpose of better analyses this paper was focused mostly on the privatization of big state-owned companies. Consequently, this Master’s Thesis answers to the following research questions: 1. How and in what extent the specific of privatization programs of 1990 influence on contemporary privatization policy in post-soviet countries? 2. What are the challenges of contemporary privatization programs in post-Soviet countries? The aim of the master thesis - to analyze the challenges that influence the contemporary privatization policy in post- Soviet countries.
