Geometric mitosis arises from mitosis for diagrams corresponding to permutations introduced by E. Miller and A. Knutson. In this work we consider symplectic Gelfand-Zetlin polytope and apply mitosis to its faces. The main conjecture connects volumes of these faces and the degrees of Schubert varieties. For symplectic groups of small dimensions we prove this conjecture in certain cases.
