NGO Participation in Anti-Corruption Policy-Making: Case Study of Russia and Ukraine in 21 Century

Corruption is quite common phenomenon among the Post-Soviet countries. During the existence of the late period of Soviet Union, high levels of corruption in all aspects of life become a complete norm, and since after the dissolution of Union. While some of the Post-Soviet countries have managed to overcome the extremely high levels of corruption, many are still struggling to fight it. Among them, Russia and Ukraine, quite similar countries in terms of economic development, culture, democracy development and political regimes. When the government fails to combat the corruption efficiently, civil society joins the stray fray; more specifically, the most notorious among civil society – anti-corruption NGOs. The present study will emphasis on involvement of NGOs in the anti-corruption policy-making in Russia and Ukraine and, using a case study method, will try to seek out the trends in both countries, effectiveness of anti-corruption NGOs activities and whether they influence anti-corruption making and to what extent.
