Jurisdiction of the Court on Intellectual Property as a Court of First Instance

Launching specialized commercial court in judicial system of Russian Federation resulted in crucial changes in jurisdiction over disputes in the field of intellectual property (IP). New court – Court on Intellectual Property – is competent to handle IP disputes arisen from public relations, while commercial courts and court of common jurisdiction preserved credentials to consider cases on infringement of exclusive right to IP. Purpose of this study is to find specifics of jurisdiction over cases of the Court on Intellectual Property, to reveal its vulnerabilities and basing on current court practice.
